They are pleased to announce a recent meeting with the NHS Harrogate and District Natural Health School has resulted in collaboration. As from January 2019 Shiatsu training will be offered at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate hospital, courtesy of Carol Dean from the Northern School of Shiatsu! The Natural Health School is the first NHS trust approved Complementary Therapy School in the UK:
This project has been so successful that the NHS Trust will shortly be expanding the service into other hospital departments such as maternity. The School offer training that can be used with a wide range of clients, from those seeking general wellbeing to patients receiving care for complex health problems. This is an interesting introduction about how the reductionist medical model has developed over time seeing the body as a machine and how this culturally became the primary way we view the human body.
